In early February (4 – 7) Citizens Continental Conference will be held in Addis Ababa, organized by the Nairobi-based organization, The Pan African Citizens Network (formerly CCPAU). The Network was established "as a critical Pan-Africanist initiative which facilitates a deeper engagement of African civil society organisations and citizens with regional and continental policies and programmes. The 8th Citizens Continental Conference theme is "Where is the Africa we want? Citizens Perspectives" and is focused on the African Union. The goal is "Towards entrenching a people-centred Africa, this will be an evaluatory convening to check the status of the union, especially in the light of the ongoing reforms, and an African space for dialogue and strategy-building as citizens and civil society." January 15 - February 11, the African Union will be hosting the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly on "Year of Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons in Africa: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement." In June of this year, the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) held an Open Session on Refugee Protection, Migration and Human Rights in Africa.
